미국의 낙태 실태

National Right to Life라는 단체에서 보낸 편지를 받았다. 거기에는 다음과 같은 충격적인 통계자료가 있었다.
On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court hadned down the infamous Roe v. Wade decision, legalizing abortion for any reason. Now, after thirty-three years under Roe, more than 47 million innocent unborn babies have been aborted.
Most of us can't fathom how many lives that really is. There are over 3,500 abortions every single day in the United States. That is 146 per hour or one about every 25 seconds. For every 1,000 live births, there are 306 abortions. And ... There are more than 140,000 second and third trimester abortions done in our country each year.

나는 모태에 있는 아이는 하나님께서 창조하신 귀한 생명이라는 것을 믿는다. 생명은 정자와 난자가 만나는 순간부터 하나님의 섭리 아래에서 시작된다. 따라서 인위적으로 그 생명을 중단시키는 것은 바로 살인행위이다. 한 사람의 실수를 다른 사람의 생명과 바꾸는 행위이며, 가장 무책임한 죄악일 뿐이다. 이 살인행위가 중단되기만을 바랄 뿐이다.
